On Saturday the 24th, the Pillow couple and the Prichard couple fished with Brookings’ guides Travis Collins and Jack Mincey. Despite less than ideal conditions and really warm weather, both couples caught plenty of nice trout.
French Broad RiverOn Friday the 16th, Les and Ben Alderman went on a smallmouth float trip with Brookings’ guide Matt Canter. The morning started out good with a few nice smallies caught on olive and white and chartreuse and white clouser minnows.
Womens Fly Fishing ClassGuide Simons Welter taught an all day fly fishing school geared for women on 7/6. The two participants were Maxina and Christa Sikes. Both Maxina and Christa were very fast learners with casting and knots. That afternoon they went to the Davidson River to put their skills to the test.
Fish Reward First-Time Fly AnglersThe fish must have been in the mood for love. When honeymooners Shannon and Porter Barron hit the East Fork of the French Broad with Brookings’ guide Marc Hipp the fish put on quite a show for the first-time fly anglers.
